David Tompkins (Durham NC, United States) uses paint with paper and acrylic materials to explore a deconstructive ontology of objects and locations. David is interested in relating the observational presence of certain human-made environments to the formalized biases of culture and our social world. His paintings depicting flat and folded architectural spaces are abstracted similes with the aim to present a deconstruction of our perceptions and how we understand ourselves.
